Therapy for Adults
Therapy is a place where we can work together to build upon your strengths in order to help you create a life that is less about surviving and more about thriving. Taking this step is an act of courage and of radical compassion towards yourself.
I enjoy working with Gen-Zers, college students, and Millenials in individual therapy. What a time to be alive and learn how to human, amirite? Life has been a lot lately, and you deserve a place to be heard, validated, and respectfully challenged when beneficial. If you sometimes have a dark sense of humor but wish you didn't need it, we'll get along.
Some challenges I have experience in helping with include:
moving from surviving to thriving after a traumatic event or series of traumas, from childhood, adolescence, or adulthood
healing after significant loss or grief
coping with anxiety or depression stemming from family, friend, relationship, job, or academic stressors
engaging in growth-oriented identity work around dismantling oppressive ideologies inside and outside yourself (ableism, fatphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, racism/white supremacy culture, sexism, transphobia, xenophobia, etc.)
processing spiritual and religious experiences that caused tension, confusion, or harm to explore safe and healing practices
developing balance and integration between your actions and beliefs
untangling complicated nuances of purity culture and developing a healthy sexual ethic
ditching shame and adopting a body positive or body neutral relationship with yourself
managing impulsive urges or self-destructive behaviors by learning how to experience intense emotions in safer ways
shaking off distressing feelings of existential dread, the "Sunday scaries," COVID languish, or "the ick"
I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)*
*I do not currently provide full model DBT, but provide DBT-informed treatment
