Evidence-Based Practices
MY APPROACHES
Authentic, non-judgemental, compassionate care
Research consistently shows that therapy is most effective when you connect with your therapist. Keeping it real and building strong relationships are the foundation of my work.
Spirituality-Informed
There are many paths and approaches to healing, and faith and spirituality shape the lives of so many individuals and families. Some may shy away from discussing spirituality in the therapy room, but I want you to know you can bring your full self. Whether your spirituality is of utmost importance to you, something you feel ambivalence about, a pain point, or not a focus of yours at all, as far as exploration of spirituality and meaning-making, there is space here to explore what matters most to you.
Culturally Responsive & Attuned
There are some things you don't want to have to explain to your therapist. In my practice, I use curiosity to explore what makes you, you. Your full self is welcome here. An intersectionality-informed approach creates space for reflection on your unique experience within the context of your identities. I am engaged in my own work around dismantling racism inside and outside of myself & in decolonizing my therapy practices.
The Mind and Body are One
Healing the mind happens in the body, and vice-versa. Body-based interventions are the cutting edge of mental health wellness and recovery. I incorporate trauma healing approaches that integrate somatic (bottom-up, body-based) and cognitive (top-down, thought-based) interventions.
Therapy Approaches Matter. These are backed by research and are integrated into how I show up as a clinician.
LGBTQIA-Affirming Care
Discrimination and family rejection are often a source of trauma for members of the LGBTQIA community; heartbreakingly, many have lost their lives to this kind of pain. While the impacts of discrimination are wide-reaching, the fruits of affirming and celebrating diverse gender and sexual identities are that of flourishing and belonging. I enjoy working with families where caregivers want to see their child or teen thrive, but may need help navigating their role and how to help as they grapple with beliefs that have made it hard for them in the past to provide their child with the support their child needs and deserves.
